LG Uplus is well on its way to complete Asia’s largest IDC, which is slated for opening in July 2015. In response to rapidly increasing data traffic in Asia, many global players find Korea ideal for their operational hub in the region and are rushing to establish presence in the country. LG Uplus plans to take advantage of such a momentum and elevate Korea’s profile as an IT hub by establishing Asia’s largest IDC. LG Uplus’ Pyeongchon IDC boasts Asia’s largest 27,768 square meters of server installation surface and the world’s top-level power supply capacity at 165MW. This will enable the IDC to sufficiently accommodate high power consuming equipment. The company plans to acquire a Tier III certification from U.S.’ Uptime, which will be the first for commercial data centers in Korea.
