LG Innotek opened its first overseas production base for auto components in Mexico and made a strong step forward in expanding its global market presence. Stretching on the plot size of five football fields, LG Innotek’s Mexico plant will manufacture core automotive components, including motors for brakes, steering systems and gearshifts. The new plant will go into full operation in August, beginning with the mass production of motors for DCT(dual-clutch transmissions) and following up with ABS (anti-lock brake system) motors. LG Innotek plans to ultimately bring up the plant’s annual motor output to 7.6 million units by 2016. By establishing a production based in Mexico, the emerging hub for automobile production and export for North and Latin Americas, the company has acquired capabilities to serve its clients in a timely manner and to ensure stable supply.
